DIY - Polyurethane belt
When you need a custom belt there's a great solution: polyurethane. It's sold at a fair price (about 30
euro/USD) a 10 meters (33 feet) open belt which you can cut to a measure and join it with a hot source
(fire).
After joining, you need to cut out the excess with a sharp utility knife.
I needed to reconstruct some difficult to find belts for a mini-lathe which can turn up to 2500 RPM. Final
result is fantastic: the belts don't slip and they are hit resistant.
Before cutting you must remember to pull them well and to be scarce of a finger, because they are more elastic
than they seem.
